It’s alive! After months of preparation for our booth at the PAX Seattle Indies Expo 2018, and receiving klamorously positive feedback from game-likers and educators alike, the Keyboard Kommandos took a well-deserved break. Now, we’re back! Since our October build of Keyboard Kommander will primarily focus on back-end material, let’s focus on the most noticeable additions: KeyboardKommander.com will be our central communication hub for news, updates on various aspects of development, including, our story mode plans!

[Rowing Machine] 2018: Week 39 {227.5}

Fitness is a scholarly activity. You don’t start off your career with a senior-level title, the ability to effectively convey emotion or information, or the psychological wherewithal to cut issues “off at the pass” before they become bigger in any career. Why, then, do we assume we can magically become fit? Maybe it’s because we assume studying for months and years is only for college and careers? What if we, similarly, studied our physical health?

[Keyboard Kommander] PAX SIX 2018

Hello once again from the PAX Seattle Indies Expo 2018! [Keyboard Kommander] Story Mode Plan

Hello from the Seattle Indies Expo 2018! If you weren’t there, we showcased Keyboard Kommander, “a fast-paced action-packed typing game in which the player must fight off a horde of post-apocalyptic Zombies and Mutants in order to defend his or her fort.[1]” There’s a visceral physicality that I enjoy, and props to game creator and lead programmer William for constantly implementing improvements, including plans for a Story Mode. Here’s my strategy for making that plan possible.

[Keyboard Kommander] Vertical Strikethrough Synopsis

The coolest thing about the latest update to Keyboard Kommander is the introduction of striked through text. When you’re typing in a word, the letters you’ve typed are crossed out, so you get a better sense of your progress. Let’s talk about the writing progress on the project. This is primarily because the next few weeks may see some time, which otherwise would have been spent writing public-facing short stories, rerouted to secretive background writing…

[Keyboard Kommander] Building Story Treatment

For my smaller writing projects, I’ll sufficiently consider the subject, structure my thoughts, before launching into writing. Using a rough medical analogy, the structural skeleton is mechanical and the rest is organic, so I’m free to adapt my focus if I discover something significant during the writing procedure. For Keyboard Kommander, I’m doing much the same, except it’s bigger. [Fiction Practice] Kajas Talk Show

“It’s the Kajas Talk Show with special guest: The Orthographimancer!” The camera panned over the bustling audience, all wearing glowing green control collars, to the gray stage. Between a slightly crazed host sitting behind a keyboard-esque desk on one side, and two security guards standing on the other, sat a woman in a little dress of red leather confident in her domination of the world.  “S-so, The Kapital wants to know; why’d you do it?”

[Keyboard Kommander] Troubleshooting Coproductive Overanalyses

Working solo allows you the complete freedom to make projects exactly as you please. Team projects still allow comfortable freedom. It’s just you trade absolute authority for coproductive collaboration. Teammates might have skills you don’t have or haven’t learned, while others have skills that can help develop your potential. Within the Keyboard Kommander group, William can program, while Rajas is helping troubleshoot narrative aspects of the Story Mode so we can deliver a better project:

This is real life! I’m going to bed.” Zombies charged mercilessly. They were overtaken. “That’s fine. You won’t make it for long. I’ll help.”
