One problem I had growing up – maybe we all did – was the fight toward perfection through never acknowledging your mistakes. It’s always someone/something else’s fault I didn’t get that good grade. That irrational irresponsibility leads to subconscious suffering. Rather than admitting a problem to overcome it, if you avoid confronting the problem, you grow to fear it!

(…I was a character in a videogame[1]…) Especially when there’s enough time for parting words, I like asking for advice. [Rowing Machine] 2018: Week 11 {240.5}

I forget the last time I ate pizza. It’s not like a sobriety counter or anything, and I’ll probably have more. This slice was probably the greasy food court pizza necessitating dabbing off napkin-full after napkin-full of oily fats. I’ve since rejected a handful of thank-you slices of pizza. It’s never personal. It’s just irrational for me to eat food I don’t enjoy that I know will just needlessly distract from my long-term fitness goals.

[Grime/Glitter] Distracted From Stress

We have too many distractions. Some distractions are good. Too many distractions leads to that certain indecisiveness that spoils us of our time, enables us to be lazy, and prevents us from doing what we must. These distractions help us cope with terrible commutes or mediocre gigs at the expense of addressing what we must do to resolve the origins of these stressors. Taken broadly, the more we distract ourselves, the less we can do.

[Sober Living] Psychedelic Mario World

How did this happen? Is there a correlation between my childhood raised secondarily by videogames and my reality where much of it involves tempering my overexposure to reality to avoid finding myself in a drunken stupor? I doubt the hours I spent playing games like Mario, Final Fantasy, or EarthBound caused this. Encouraged an addictive framework? Perhaps. Spend another 10 minutes to level up, throw yourself to the mercy of inebriation, only to rinse and repeat?

[Applied Self-Confidence] Feel Confidently Healthy

Health plays a key role in our self-confidence. If I’m feeling even somewhat ill, it’s likely I won’t feel confident in myself. That’s obvious, sure, it’s just I think we typically only etiologically work on problems ranging from communication to physical health. We might accidentally overmedicate to sedate lingering health issues or eat poorly, causing us physical distress, causing us mental distress, causing us to lose our self-confidence. What can we do to fix that?
