[Sober Living] Everyone’s a Hustler

I’m drowning in this feeling of hopelessness. To fully consider an event and the circumstances around it is to live with this dread and panic that not everyone in life is acting with your best intentions. As much as I’ve wanted to think about how my childhood with a difficult compulsory education, where I have no friends from elementary through high school, made me ready to protect myself against betrayal, it really hasn’t. Oh well…?

[Moving Zeal] Nirvana of Materialism

“If you don’t go to the store all the time, and you don’t look around that much, you won’t buy anything that you don’t need.[1]” What’s the balance between buying the things you need versus merely wanted things? Should we be as minimalist as possible, or can we indulge in collecting certain things? My biggest current/future consideration is: how important are those wants for you and how much room do you have for those items?

[Sammohini Arc] Excellent Training Questions

“Sorry I brought up bad memories.” The two furniture movers were just leaving the highway on their way back from an arduous trek across the E1000 highway in worse than normal traffic. Through talking with the driver, Andrius, on their route, Jane had started the process of getting over long unresolved deep psychological issues at her last company. “N-no, thank y-you for listening.” “We have a little more time if you’d like to keep going.”

[The Story] Vertical Slice, October 2018

I’ll casually estimate that I’ve published over 80,500 words related to “The Story” as of yet, even though all content related to it could easily surpass 150,000. Everything is nebulously floating around inside my head, loosely organized, so even writing specific ideas twice each week are just subjective rough drafts. My plan is to write everything in one go after I feel confident that I can. Until then, here’s a 6,000-word vertical slice walking through “The Story.”

[Rowing Machine] 2018: Week 43 {228.0}

Fitness has taught me mental endurance. If it’s a dull, external pain, like some heavy rain, that’s different than some sharp, internal pain, like some back pang. Those dull pains will usually be fine when you push through them, with regret being the only pain point, whereas sharper pain should always be respected and addressed. When I learned to tell the difference, it made enduring cold rain for a set more worthwhile than staying home.

[Sammohini Arc] Screwed Without Drive

The new widescreen computer monitor arrived the afternoon before Sammohini, the newest member of Eville Medical’s second-level computer repair team, drove to the clinic to install it. She scheduled time in the late afternoon since it was faster to then drive to her parents’s house for the weekend from the clinic and she could drop off the old one next week. As she walked through the clinic doors carrying the monitor box, Sammohini felt nervous.

[The Story] Fame and Offenses

“We have a right to exist![1]” John’s words, shouted at some ignorant heckler, caused the hairs on my arms to stand up, rang through my ears, and punctuated a brainstorming session I was having while walking back from lunch along a summery pier. In this scene, Trishna already felt insecure about going out with painted toenails in some nice open-toe shoes… but let’s start at the mellow introduction of that brainstorming session for “The Story

[Sober Living] Life After Headaches

I’m writing this on the tail-end of a headache. It’s still in there, lingering; lumbering its way through my body. There’s still a massive pressure behind my eyes, in my neck, and in my ability to concentrate. Normally, all processes are clear, I can focus, and do my work unimpaired. Headaches are like a sudden inebriation. My concentration and willpower are massively impaired as I’m struggling to even want to continue writing about this experience.

[Moving Zeal] Movies Per Year?

How many movies per year do you watch? If my RYM movie tags are as accurate as I think they are, I’ve seen 11 feature-length movies since starting Better Zombie in August 2016. Watching less than six movies per year means there isn’t much of a point for me to own an extensive movie collection, especially if I’m planning to live in apartments for the next few years. Just keep the essentials and sell the rest… right?

[Sammohini Arc] Peanut Gallery’s Commentaries

What else’s on your mind? We’re still, like, 30 minutes to base.”
The two furniture movers, driver Andrius and passenger Jane, were over one hour later to their anticipated clock out time, already, and traffic on the E100 was just starting to loosen up on the formerly blazing Evillain summer afternoon.
“Can I tell you about this one time that really got me fuming bad?”
Andrius looked over, his foot firmly on the break.
“Sure thing.”
