[Novel 02] Cloning Sammohini’s Apartment

Throughout my longest Minecraft build yet for infrastructure within “The Story,” specifically learning from my writing process in Novel 01 to write Novel 02, I’ve become closer than ever to realizing the ten-story apartment building that Sammohini lives in. There are design and logistical challenges with such a build, but I’m glad I didn’t have to compromise by implying there was a ten-story building. This should mean that Eville Medical is much more possible now than ever.

[Novel 02] Building Sammohini’s Room

I’ve been thinking about building out “The Story” within videogames. Summarizing my research: I didn’t want to learn game development to create setpieces and I wasn’t looking for anything particularly fancy. While writing Novel 01, I realized I could have benefitted from visual continuity help. Now that my preparation period before writing Novel 02 can be casually longer, I can create major setpieces of Eville in Minecraft. I spent 43 minutes today to roughly sketch out Sammohini’s bedroom.

[Downsizing Zeal] Days Managing Inventory

If I were in some post-apocalyptic zombie scenario, how much stuff would I keep? Not much more than a laptop, or two, and some pricelessly sentimental items. Given that we are spoiled to not worry about such scenarios, we can often allow luxury to get in the way of ourselves, as we struggle through possessions that might otherwise weigh us down. Playing or watching zombie games can help us practice post-apocalyptic downsizing inventory management scenarios.

[Media Meandry] Other People’s Worlds

It’s fun meandering through media, finding yourself in another person’s world, and having a blast. My purpose behind writing Media Meandry essays was fixing a realization – I spent most of my time writing more serious essays. These essays are a good way to write less serious essays. As I got back into meandering through worlds more frequently, these meandries helped me learn to appreciate other people’s worlds whether I was having a blast or not.
