[Media Meandry] El Verdugo, Balzac

Within twenty years, Honoré de Balzac (1799–1850) completed 91 works and attempted to write 46 more in a fictional world he called La Comédie humaine. The idea of interlocking short stories and novels where one story’s main character appears as a bit character elsewhere fascinated me almost as much as Balzac’s writing schedule. The short story El Verdugo was my start. It’s fantastic, fast-paced, and more exciting than most action movies. Let’s explore slow burns to explosive conclusions.

[2019 Novel] Year To Prepare?

You have ten months to prepare for NaNoWriMo. You have a year to prepare for your next New Year’s Resolution. You have a lifetime to prepare for your death. Why procrastinate on working toward your goals? I wrote my first novel A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story” and I’m not going to wait a year to write the second novel.

[2019 Novel] My Biggest Accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment in my avocational life is completing my first novel, A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story.” Professionally, I’ve got a degree, 11+ years of experience, but that’s all easy. All you have to do is study enough, be persuasive enough in interviews, and not offend people. I have very real insecurities over this novel because it’s more than that.

[2019 Novel] Sex, Drugs, Violence

I should have a warning about the contents within A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story” for its sexual content, drug/alcohol references, violence, and whatever else might offend people. Oh! Let’s start with offensive language. The only offensive language is the aforementioned cultural provocation. Otherwise, no fucks, no shits, no damns, and only one crap was given in my first novel.

[2019 Novel] Not One Month

Having attended three game jam weekends, I can say that despite disparate disciplines, NaNoWriMo is similar. Over nearly 48 hours, jammers will work in teams or individually to build small games, just as from November 1st to 30th, writers write 50,000-word novels. I saw sickness and fatigue at game jams from people not listening to the organizational staff. After my novel-writing month, I encountered health problems, too. It’s doable, but extend it out to two months…

[2019 Novel] What You Read

I only just learned that “What You See Is What You Get” was a phrase spoken by Geraldine Jones and that knowledge makes the phrase even better for me. I love understanding the differences between people, especially when they’re honest with themselves, because then I can learn and grow. That was my approach with A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story.”

[2019 Novel] That I’ll Offend…

With my first novel – A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story” – I have already offended one person… and within the first page! This should be good. I look at offenses from two perspectives: The only offenses that are not good are the ones that strike others down. Since this offense is because of offensive ideas, I look at it as positive.

[2019 Novel] Psycholinguistics; Character Subtleties

In life and literature, I have two primary interests that influence all aspects of my other myriad interests – psycholinguistics and subtleties – both of which heavily influenced my first novel, A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story.” After I explore some of the whys, I’ll delve into why it’s important that we build literature based around our peculiar interests, esoteric or exoteric.

[2019 Novel] Re-Reading The Novel

It’s been about twenty-five days since I last looked at my first novel – A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story.” I’ve found some typos. That’s embarrassing. However, I’m enjoying what I’ve read so far, and commenting along. I’m not sure if I’ll do this for the entire novel, just because of time constraints, but one month later gives some interesting context.

[2019 Novel] Respect The Deadline

I thought not much of my mortality while writing A Story About Self-Confidence: What’s In A Name?, a month~long story at Eville Medical in the Sammohini Arc of “The Story,” other than knowing that someday I will die, and for everyone else alive, there will be a tomorrow after that. I didn’t act recklessly, cruelly, or inattentively toward others. I fulfilled my obligations, external and internal, so I could respect all of my writing deadlines.
