[The Story] Monthly Bookclub Entry?

I’m in a bookclub where we read classic literature, more modern literature, and anything that might strike the popular vote’s fancy. During the call, where we talked about the Lovecraft stories we read, I noticed I was enjoying myself, hanging out, joking, and laughing. I wonder, will “The Story,” in whatever media it finds itself in, to whatever degree it becomes, ever be a monthly bookclub entry? It seems like that would be the goal…

[The Story] Being Versus Becoming

After playing enough of Star Fetchers and enough of Lovecraft’s fiction to feel confident about my opinions on both, I think my thoughts on media comes down to their priorities. Do they prioritize radical environments where things are ultraviolent and gnarly? Or, I suppose the opposite end of that rule-of-cool would be characters becoming cool? [Tripping On…] Pulling Myself Away

It’s tricky to figure out when I’m feeling well and when I’m not. Yesterday, I went through the entire day pain-free. However, I only slept for ninety minutes before waking up not quite rested, not quite shocked, and not quite able to take on the day. My spine and sides don’t particularly hurt, but they don’t feel great either. I figured I’d capture these thoughts before I go lie down and possibly go rest, perhaps…?

[Media Meandry] Imbue Positive Thoughts

Partway through folding 1,000 paper cranes, I mentioned to a friend of mine that I was working on this project. Eventually, I folded 2,000 paper cranes, wishing for better physical and mental health. I think I achieved both. My friend had mentioned something that stuck with me for years; paraphrased, he said: If I’m not thinking about [better health] while folding the paper crane, am I really working toward achieving that goal? Imbue things with positive thoughts.
