I used to think I had tinges of ADHD. Then I befriended someone living with ADHD. At most, my distractions are caused by an overactive brain, so when I read anything, invariably, I’ll lose concentration after a few pages or lines depending on the dryness of the material so I’ll stare out toward my physical clutter while my mind wanders, then I return to reading. What I’m trying to practice is reigning in those wanderings.
How many movies per year do you watch? If my RYM movie tags are as accurate as I think they are, I’ve seen 11 feature-length movies since starting Better Zombie in August 2016. Sweeping, like editing, is a hidden necessity. I may sometimes write a document without reading through the entire document once more to refine word choices, omit redundant phrases, increase the punchiness, while decreasing the ambiguity. Perhaps it’s carelessness? I may similarly pass through a room without cleaning the meeting points between vertical and horizontal surfaces. Perhaps also carelessness? Let’s muse on how the art of cleaning can augment the act of writing with one word:
